Donor Privacy Notice
Version 3
Effective October 22, 2026.
Who this notice covers
Naija We Can collects and uses personal information when you visit its fundraising pages, contribute, request support or use related donor services. Questions and privacy requests: support@naijawecan.org.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide, including your name, company name where applicable, email, phone, mailing address, employer, occupation and Nigerian home state or place of origin. We also maintain your selected campaign and polling unit where applicable, contribution amount, optional Naija We Can gift, giving frequency, payment status, provider references, confirmations and communications. Our service and infrastructure providers may process IP addresses, browser and device details, session identifiers and security logs. Do not submit Social Security numbers, NINs, identity documents or payment-card details through our support email or ordinary donor fields.
Why we use information
We use information to process and reconcile contributions; manage recurring contributions; provide confirmations and support; maintain donor and accounting records; administer campaigns; communicate about our work where permitted; prevent fraud and misuse; secure the service; and meet reporting and other legal obligations. Information identifying a political contribution may reveal political interests or opinions, and applicable safeguards and consent requirements continue to apply.
Required reporting and public disclosure
By contributing, you acknowledge and consent to Naija We Can providing your contributor information to the IRS and other regulators where reporting or disclosure is required by applicable law. Such disclosures may be mandatory regardless of consent and cannot necessarily be withdrawn or erased. Required reports may disclose your name, mailing address, employer, occupation, contribution dates and amounts and may be publicly accessible. For example, where Form 8872 reporting applies, contributors whose aggregate contributions reach $200 in a calendar year are generally identified in the report. We disclose the information required for the relevant filing; collecting email and phone information does not mean those details are automatically included in a public filing.
Vendors, agents and other recipients
Naija We Can may, at its discretion and subject to applicable law, share relevant donor information with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, agents, professional advisers and authorized campaign personnel for the purposes described in this notice. These purposes include payment processing, hosting, security, communications, donor support, accounting, reporting, campaign administration and lawful fundraising operations. We select the providers and agents that assist us and determine the information reasonably needed for their work. Service providers and agents acting on our behalf are expected to protect information and use it only for their authorized work. Payment providers may also act under their own privacy notices and legal obligations.
We may disclose information in response to lawful requests, to establish or defend legal rights, investigate misuse or protect people and systems. Any sharing with independent partners for their own marketing, any sale of personal information or any materially different use must meet applicable notice, consent and other legal requirements; this notice is not a waiver of those requirements. A donation is not blanket permission for unrelated third-party use.
Payments, email and sharing tools
Payment details are entered with the payment provider. The fundraising application records payment references and status rather than full card numbers or card security codes. Providers used for the relevant service may include Stripe for checkout, Render for hosting, Cloudflare for security and SendGrid for transactional email. Availability depends on the features enabled. Sharing buttons prepare content or open a sharing service; you decide whether and to whom to send it. External messaging and social platforms handle information under their own policies. An invitation does not enroll its recipient in marketing.
Browser storage and security
Essential cookies and browser storage support sessions, checkout protection and interface preferences. Authorized staff access is restricted, and safeguards are used to protect stored donor information. No service can guarantee complete security. Do not forward private confirmation links or credentials.
Retention and requests
We retain information for the time reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including financial reporting, recordkeeping, reconciliation, dispute handling and legal obligations, and longer where a legal hold applies. Contact support@naijawecan.org to request access, correction, deletion, information about sharing or to exercise applicable privacy rights. We may verify your identity proportionately. Some records must be retained or disclosed by law; deletion or withdrawal of consent does not undo a completed mandatory filing. Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw it prospectively, subject to lawful retention and other available legal grounds. Applicable objection, restriction, opt-out and complaint rights remain available.
International processing and updates
Our providers and authorized personnel may process information in the United States, Nigeria or other countries in which they operate, subject to applicable transfer requirements and safeguards. If a feature or jurisdiction requires additional consent or notice, it must be provided separately. Material changes will be identified with a revised date and any additional notice or consent required by law. Changes do not automatically authorize a materially different use of information collected under earlier promises.
